Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man and Van Surrey

Our Commitment

Man and Van Surrey is committed to conducting its business ethically, transparently, and with integrity. We recognise our responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we take, and will continue to take, to ensure that modern slavery does not occur in any part of our business.

Scope of this Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement applies to all activities undertaken by Man and Van Surrey, including our man and van services, removals, logistics support, and any associated operations. It covers our staff, contractors, agency workers, and all suppliers providing goods or services that support our business.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

Man and Van Surrey has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation that is involved in, or connected to, such practices. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy will be treated as a serious matter and may result in the termination of contracts or working relationships.

All managers and staff are expected to uphold this zero-tolerance approach in their day-to-day decisions, including the selection and management of suppliers and subcontractors. Decisions that conflict with this principle are not acceptable and will be challenged and investigated.

Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards

Our supply chains primarily involve providers of vehicles, fuel, packaging materials, storage facilities, and labour-related services. We aim to work only with reputable suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct.

We communicate our expectations on modern slavery to existing and prospective suppliers. We expect suppliers to comply with applicable labour, human rights, and employment laws; prohibit forced, bonded, or involuntary labour; ensure that workers are of legal working age; and provide safe, fair, and respectful working conditions.

Supplier Audits and Due Diligence

Man and Van Surrey is developing and implementing proportionate due diligence processes to identify and mitigate risks of modern slavery in our supply chains. These processes include supplier vetting at onboarding, where we assess the supplier’s reputation, labour practices, and compliance history.

Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits, which may take the form of questionnaires, documentation reviews, or on-site visits. These audits are designed to verify that suppliers meet our standards and to identify any areas for improvement. If concerns arise, we expect suppliers to work with us on corrective action plans. Persistent failure to meet our standards may lead to the suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage all staff, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions regarding modern slavery in connection with Man and Van Surrey. Reports can be made to a line manager, a senior manager, or any designated contact within the business. All concerns will be taken seriously and handled sensitively.

We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Reports may be made anonymously where this is possible, and the confidentiality of individuals who raise genuine concerns will be respected as far as practicable.

Training and Awareness

Man and Van Surrey is committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff. We provide guidance and information on how to recognise potential signs of exploitation and how to report concerns. Training needs are reviewed periodically and updated to reflect changes in legislation, best practice, and risk assessment outcomes.

Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continually improving our approach to preventing modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our policies, due diligence measures, and supplier oversight on an ongoing basis.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be formally reviewed and updated at least once every year. The annual review will consider any incidents reported, audit findings, changes to our operations or supply chains, and developments in legal or best practice standards. Where necessary, we will amend our procedures and controls to strengthen our safeguards against modern slavery and human trafficking.

Approval of this Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Man and Van Surrey, who are responsible for ensuring that the commitments set out in this document are implemented throughout the business and embedded within our culture and decision-making.
